We are all ages, all different shapes. We are male and female, we are hetrosexual, homosexual
and lesbian. We have different politics, we eat different foods, we work in widely differing
spheres. Some of us have a struggle making ends meet, others have plenty. Some of us are single,
some of us are married, some divorced. Some of us are adopted, some estranged from their parents,
some of us desperately want children, others have a rich and loving family life. We have addictions,
been abused and we have all cried.
On the floor of the halls as we dance, our differences dissolve and we are just our beautiful
moving and sweating bodies. We can then find connections to self and others purely through
movement.
The 5Rhythms® practice encourages throught its' structure this connection to self, to one
another, to the community, to the larger world and to that “stillpoint at the centre of
the turning world” (T.S. Eliot).
In the last six years I have seen the everyday reality of this practice. Individuals giving
themselves attention and care as they struggle to find what they need, friendships that have
grown between students, community projects and gatherings and a clear commitment to service
to the wider world in many areas. Finally I have seen many students take the path of spiritual
exploration towards that “stillness at the centre of the turning world”.
Come and join us — you will be very welcome.
